StartUpSecure Funding Mitigant SCE Project

We are happy to announce that Mitigant received funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) through the StartUpSecure initiative. The initiative supports German academic institutions and startups to launch high-quality, innovative cybersecurity research, products, and services. Several kinds of support include funds, entrepreneurship coaching, and networking opportunities.

What is StartUpSecure?

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research launched the StartUpSecure Initiative to facilitate the smooth and accelerated transfer of innovative academic solutions to the industry. Research teams in German educational institutions have traditionally produced innovative, high-quality research suited for solving contemporary issues. Hence, the StartUpSecure initiative aids cybersecurity startups in entering the market with disruptive and marketable products and services that address cybersecurity pain points. The focus on cybersecurity emerged due to the acute need for robust mechanisms that effectively tackle the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber-attacks. Four startup incubators facilitate this initiative: CISPA Saarbrucken, ATHENE Darmstadt,  KASTEL Karlsruhe, and  Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Mitigant is accessing the StartUpSecure initiative through ATHENE Darmstadt.

Improving Mitigant with the StartUpSecure Funding

Mitigant is on a mission to commoditize security and resilience for cloud-native infrastructure and thus enable resilience to cyber-attacks. Ac achieving this objective requires a multifaceted approach; hence Mitigant has built the first pure-play, cloud-native, Continuous Security Verification platform. The platform detects security vulnerabilities in cloud-native infrastructure and fast-tracts alignment with regulatory compliance benchmarks. Furthermore, it employs continuous security testing by applying the principles of chaos engineering to cyber security. This approach, also known as Security Chaos Engineering, is a novel cyber security domain, and we are proud to be pioneering its application to the industry.  

The StartUpSecure Initiative would support Mitigant to expand its coverage to Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure while further deepening roots into Amazon Web Services. Ultimately, Mitigant will play a critical role in accelerating the adoption of secure cloud computing practices in Germany, further establishing Germany as a preferred location for technological innovation.
